Hi,
I will be moving to Switzerland is a short time and I am forcing with all the documentation.
I will be crossing the border at night, not sure which one because I am going there with transport company. I will have only my personal staff with me (mainly cloths, some electronics devices f.g. computer, phone, camera etc., some tools, books and two bikes). All my stuff is older then 6 months.
In some time I will move my family and then we will be moving our furniture and bigger things including car.
In case the office will be closed during night, where I should go next day to get the sign below my 18.44 form ? I am moving to central Switzerland and trip to the border will take me one day - I would prefer not going there and settle the matter locally or via the Internet, if possible.
Does any of you entered Switzerland at night where the office was closed and there was no one ? Is it even possible that there will be no one on the crossing ?
Thank you in advance!
Of course it’s possible no one will be there at night. Unless you’re crossing at a major border point I’d say it’s almost guaranteed you won’t find anyone around.
If it's a reputable transport company they shouldn't cross outside of commercial goods opening hours where the customs can do the paperwork. This usually involves them sleeping in the van or staying at a hotel if it's too late.
Otherwise if no-one is there you can just cross and worry about it later or not worry at all. I had a car full of stuff, stopped to buy a vignette and nothing else was done.
Thank you for answers
So if there will be no one at the border. I will have prepared documents and list of goods can I send it somewhere or take the train to Zurich airport and live it there at the declaration box ?
What should I do in that case (no one at the border) ?
The best thing is to follow the rules , which means in case of a 18.44 you must cross the border only during commercial hours.
You will also have to declare at the commercial custom post which might not always be where the border crossing is (example Waldshut-Koblenz crossing).
Please see the FAQ from Swiss Customs:

In theory you wait until the commercial customs office is open again. This should apply even if there is 'someone' at the border.
Thank you for your answers. I also thought it would be the best option. Probably it will work like that.
