They do get a reduction by not paying the franchise or 10% copayments. But get in the queue behind non-smokers.
You need to read up a bit more on health insurance and understand it better - unless you are just trolling.
But that would include cycling on stationary bikes and bikes on private properties, mountain biking etc. When they use public roads they should share the costs, in particular the costs directly associated with cycling. Lanes, traffic lights, etc.
I think pedestrians also should pay for using those costly sidewalks and zebra crossings. They also increase the stress level of motorists and cyclists. It is unfair they don’t have to pay for that.
And double rate for black BMWs and SUVs.
That is correct, it was liability insurance (incl. if you run over a pedestrian, so not just re peanuts).
It used to be this:
made of metal. Then changed to the stickers and was abandoned and the last fine charged for not having a sticker was in 2011.
The reason it was abandoned was that having a liability insurance is mandatory in Switzerland so it’s included there since.
The idea of charging a road tax for bicycles indeed is rather nuts imo too as a) they want people to cycle, b) how much would that be?!? c) will roller skates be next?
Hey, maybe I could get a “Wechselnummer”? You know these plates you can have two cars on, you just have to screw them off one and put them on the other. Wonder what they would decide on the size of one of those.
Should they introduce a cycle tax the money should go to cantons and communes, not the federal government. Are there any “federal roads” other than autoroutes?
It’s not actually mandatory but is strongly recommended.
As it’s impossible to drive a car and ride a bicycle at the same time, and many car drivers also cycle, the one-vehicle licence plate for multiple owned cars also needs to be abolished.
Perhaps you could think about my post a little further. People with unhealthy habits do pay more for their health coverage. And please don’t be so condescending. Thank you.
Sorry, wiki said it was but you’re correct. But I must say, someone who rides bicycles should seriously have one. You run into a pedestrian you might not live long enough to pay off the costs.
And they may pay more but they don’t pay all which is what you seemed to be implying.
If they did, then there would be absolutely no need for health insurance, would there?
For example - unhealthy habits leading to requirement of heart-by pass surgery - patient pays their franchise of CHF1000 or whatever.
Cost of surgery CHF45000.
The Argument the SVP and others are using is “pay for what you use”.
Fine. I don’t use TV but I still need to pay an annual TV licence.
This is because having a public broadcast service is seen as a service to the public as a whole.
Cycling used to be seen as the same - cleaner city air for all, less congested roads, less danger for pedestrians, less of a burden on the health service and so on.
Not so any more.
To paraphrase you - Play the ball and not your prejudice.
It would be the height of stupidity not to have it in my opinion, it’s not very expensive and a simple little slip up could end up being very expensive for those without it.
He wasn’t implying anything of the sort.
Where on earth did you get that idea from?
I have not had any need for it since the year 2000 (small dammage of hardwood floor when moving out of a flat after 16 years).
Never crossed my mind not to have that insurance though, I suspect the moment it’s gone I will break every thing in my path
So it kind of works in a magical way. Since I’m with Mobiliar I even get money back at the end of a year - guess it works magically for many people insured there.
What’s your point?
Cat got your tongue?
What do you think the contribution of a 15Kg bike travelling perhaps 2,000 Km per year to wear and tear on the road is compared to a 2 tonne car travelling 15,000 Km?
40 Rp per year would probably be too much in comparison.
Bike lanes, traffic lights, new roads?
Driving up to my clinique the other day I was delayed* at a work site where they are widening the road in order to add bike lanes in both directions. That is not free.
*not a big deal as I always try to arrive early.
