I have read the threads I could find, but I am still struggling. If someone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.
I have de-registered and left Zurich after resigning. I am living back in the UK and thought I would be able to have my 2nd pillar paid out, into my UK bank account as we are not part of the EU anymore.
Speaking to someone at the BVG office, they said this was not the case, that when it comes to pensions, the UK is still part of the EU agreement so it needs to go into a "Vested Account". Not sure if this is correct as I would prefer to have my money and re-invest it myself. I do not have another pension to have this transferred too.
Any advice? Is there someone on here who is actually a pension person, who offers their services to get this all sorted out? Thank you
One document which you need for the pay out by any vested benefit account provider is the confirmation from the LOB Guarantee Fund, however only if you live or work in an EU/EFTA country. UK is neither an EU nor an EFTA country. https://sfbvg.ch/en/tasks/cash-payment-procedure
Contact LOB Guarantee Fund, and see how you can get a statement, that there is no payout restriction if you are in the UK and do not work in any EU/EFTA country. Or, just simply start the payout process with your current BVG provider. It will hopefully processed by a more competent person which knows the actual rules.
