6am Sunday morning - brass band playing outside

Wtf! 6am Sunday morning there’s a brass band playing outside the neighbour’s front door for some godforsaken reason. No loud noise between 10pm and 7am and no loud noise on Sundays; broken both of those rules. Really enjoyed being woken up by that - not!

Umm, it IS carnevale season!

Tom

Not an excuse Tom, sorry. Nor were they dressed up for carnival that I could see.

Ah lol - yes Guggenmusik time - you won't win on this one

You really have become a Swissy.

Had a visit from a member of the local brass band last week, they want to play on my birthday; I promise it will not be too early.

Au contraire, au contraire

Are you the Doyen of your village? wow!

They are practicing, and yes it is an excuse, especially if they have a permit. The locals are Guggening in the park next to us as I write this.

Tom

P.S. The locals are also members of the local commune administration here, so I am sure that they have given themselves a permit.

Are you the village elder?

Well, hubby said he heard them playing Happy Birthday - which makes it even less of an excuse. Don’t mind them celebrating, but please do it at reasonable hours.

We do see the band playing and marching down the streets in the commune sometimes, but it’s usually in spring/summer and certainly not at 6am on a Sunday! Neighbour is actually a band member I think; have seen him go out in a uniform sometimes.

Maybe he forgot to set his alarm and they went to wake him up for band practice before an event.

Then knock on the door or ring the doorbell.

Seems it is a tradition here to play for locals on their 80th birthday.

Not yet but when the village idiot dies I am next in line

We had a bbq in the woods when a marching band came by. It was kind of nice.

What did the police say?

The ones that weren’t playing in the band?

Very nice, but do they do that at 6am!

Didn’t call them, but if it had gone on much longer I would have.

Wow that young They came to play for my dad's birthday for about 5 years as he was the Doyen, but well into his 90s. Cost him a fortune in wine and snacks for the band every year.

Our Commune brought us some excellent bottles of wine and a big basket of flowers for our 50th wedding anniversary this year. How civilised.
