A quiz. What series is this?

Mine is not English and aired 1958-1985.

British, written by John Ryan. The character first appeared in The Eagle comic, later made into a tv series. 1950-2009.
And sadly the cabin boy was called Tom. Boring or what?!

Apparently a Canadian series called The Friendly Giant. Never heard of it before.

You are correct and it lasted almost 30 years. Friendly the giant, Rusty the rooster and Jerome the Giraffe with purple spots.

Apparently the US “Jolly Green Giant was “modeled” after him (aka stolen from).

I hated it as well, couldn’t relate to any of the characters.

One of my favourites was Pogle’s Wood but they didn’t make many episodes. I loved the fact the family lived in the bottom of a tree trunk and Mrs Pogle fed the plant outside with her elderberry wine. It was a bit weird tbh and I love all things weird :slightly_smiling_face:

The Herbs as well, still watch it on YouTube. “I’m a very friendly lion called Parsley”

Just been watching “Timeslip” on youtube.
Some episodes are missing but it was the first timetravel series I watched.

I’m too young to remember this one but my husband can still sing the entire theme tune.

I’m sorry for this, but every time I see this thread I think of asking “what about this series?”

I’ll see myself out.

I always thought the late Gerry Anderson should have had a knighthood for services to children’s TV. Even at 64 years old I adore watching his stuff.

I know, not for kids, but this was my first ‘crush’ with english language (and accent) when I was a kid. Not just with the language, of course. A classic…
