What exactly do they test here?
My Father in Law at 89 just had to have a basic medical, his eyesight and hearing tested by his doctor in Lugano, who issued a certificate as being fit to drive. With this his license was renewed. I think this has to be done every 3 or 5 years - but not 100% sure.
I assume the health insurance does not cover this test?
Correct.
The test seems to vary from doctor to doctor.
They all do an eye test but after that it varies. I never had a hearing test, once I had an alzheimers test. Another time I had a test for vertigo (dizziness), a few weeks ago my aunt had to walk on a straight line.
Last week I had this test successfully, basically a very primitive eye test followed by a chat.
The doctor said he was worried by the result of my eye test, I had taken the precaution a couple of months ago to visit an eye specialist and I suggested to read the result.
I'll be happy if I just make it to 75
My doctor retired last year, I had this test this year with my new doctor and just got a bill for 150 CHF.
I know this is Switzerland but it seems high, how much do you pay?
