Abused for wearing mask on Bus!

Yes let’s normalize aggression and let’s make society even more passive than it already is. And yes I am outraged but more so as some of the responses indicate, there’s more empathy for the “potentially” crazy dude who could cause harm than a regular commuter going about their business.

I was hit in the back seat multiple times on easyJet flights while trying to make myself comfortable. In my opinion the person behind was crazy. I didn't do anything about it unfortunately, didn't complain to the staff.

I guess I'm normalizing aggression as well

You didn't lift a finger either, in fact you even moved away to what looked like safety to you. All in all you're complaining about everybody else doing exactly what you did.

Maybe change your own reaction first?

This is black and white thinking, which rarely serves humans well.

Yet more hyperbole. You're ignorant about mental health to use such a reductive turn of phrase to refer to someone's behaviour.

Be thankful you're so lucky to be so affluent and not yet afflicted with whatever this person is dealing with.

People like this also roam around in offices by the way. They can also be found in the police force and military, amongst solicitors, amongst the broader hoi polloi, and so on.

Channel your outrage into advocating for better community support services, and more money, resources and premises for the voluntary org's focused on such citizens.

Oh, this reminds me.... u said laughing at Masks.

Already in several occasions on the Zurich Lake People starred at me for wearing a Mask in crowded places, where I was almost the only one. Even worse, I took my Kid from School one Day and a bunch of probably very "educated" 13 y/o Girls were pointing at us and laughing, again, I just did not take the Mask Off, just as a habit, and I guess it was very funny for them.

We travelled on Bus 80 between Albisrieden and Oerlikon. MrsNickatbasel challenged a couple of covidiot Karens not wearing masks - others on the bus took our side. Also a Ken with “freedom” t-shirt and chin mask who got off at ETH. Sadly tts like that are everywhere.

Cheers,

Nick

Children usually learn from their parents and their surroundings. I was on a bus one time where I saw a guy wear his mask below his nose. His 6 or 7 year old son pointed to the display screen and told his dad to raise his mask. Daddy simply shushed the kid.

Good on you to continue doing the right thing. On our part we usually just avoid crowded places, travel off peak as much as is possible and continue to behave responsibly. It’s just unfortunate that in a situation like this, ones fate is tied to others behaving responsibly as well!

Bus drivers are not the police. Don't expect them to do much unless a situation is escalalating out of control.

Actually, the Swiss will stare whether you wear a mask or not.

Fate is tied, oh my, not sure who is more crazier now.

That's because most of them are racist and don't like foreigners, in german part in particular

Well, I can understand how someone might not like you....

I haven't had bad experience yet, but I try to avoid german part like a plague. I'm just reading what people write here.

You seriously need to expand your horizons and meet people in real life. The internet is a great place to moan and groan, with EF being no exception. People tend to report less on positive things.

If you haven't had any bad experiences, then how can you have written that the Swiss Germans are all racist? It doesn't help your credibility at all.

As a naturalised Swiss I took full advantage of my right to stare at those not wearing masks.

Try it. And when instructed by the driver, or ticket inspectors or police to put one on or get off the bus, pay the "fee" for insisting on your "freedom". At least you'll have the warm glow of trying to stick it to the man.

But probably, that's just your nappy needing changing.

Ah. Trolling. Well done!

Believe me, my horizon is quite wide, I've lived in 6 countries so far.

Well noticed about credibility, everything is just my opinion and how I see things. When I say bad experience I mean someone calling me a stupid foreigner and stuff like that.

Altho, I don't speak german I understand some of it as I speak Dutch. Same goes with Italian, I get some of it. So all in all, can get what I need from other people.

You sure ? I think you need to expand your horizon.

Whooooosh.

It's not okay to hit a seat in a bus, everyone agrees with you on that. I think you're right about the "more empathy". This is probably because you are so much more able than that man was. The big difference is that he was apparently unable to control himself. He was angry, as were you. You, on the other hand, were able to exercise sufficient self-control to just do the right thing and walk away.

Not necessarily ignored. Yet each of us is in charge of our own choices about how we spend each 24 hours, and about how much effort we're willing to make, if we do decide to take the route of "let's not ignore this aggressive behaviour".

Certainly, there is no right to hurt others, and no-one on this thread seems to think that hitting the bus seat is reasonable behaviour. That he did that, at all, at the very least shows that he has some sort of problem (if only his own anger bubbling up, at what he thinks that other people aren't doing right).

Yes, persons who are unable to reduce, or control, or get over their own anger and outrage may very well need help. And how is he to get it? He's likely to only if you or I, or someone else, actually gets involved, to figure out where he could get counselling, to spend the time talking to him to persuade him that it might be a good idea, and to take him there, and that's a lot of work.
