I guess there's not much difference but still happy to hear opinions
Would you particularly recommend a company for accident insurance for household help I have only experience with Allianz so far for a somewhat different contract and was not overly happy in the sense of increased premiums compared to what was initially offered to me.
Some aspects to consider:
- how flexible & cost effective is the company if I decide to increase the number of employees (all for a small number of hours)
- how easy is it to cancel the contract if I decide to switch the company (many allow you to cancel the contract only if you say you do not plan to employ anybody anytime soon...)
- honest and timely communication
Concretely I am most likely to choose Axa or Helvetia as the seem simple (Mobiliare e.g. puts a limit of 10k per employee which may be too low)
I would imagine that Mobiliar would increase that limit, upon request (and premium).
What are the limits of the other three you mention?
Are you looking for "accident insurance" (Unfallversicherung) or "daily sickness allowance" (Krankentaggeld), which are two different things.
accident insurnce
Axa has a limit per employee of 15k (I don't think I'd go over that anyways for 8h/week). Helvetia did not specify, I guess they apply SVA's limits.
The limits you are referring to are the salary caps (and generally relate to their bare-bones minimum insurances for a very limited premium, which is why they insist on a salary cap).
At least in my insurance, if you stay under the caps (and the same type of employment) all employees are covered without need to "add" or register them. Hence there is very little communication with the insurance apart from paying the premium. Never have had to deal with an accident though. Since I have a minimal yearly premium, cancelling mid-year is not really an option/issue.
You can also get insurance for higher salary caps. E.g. Helvetia lets you calculate the resulting premiums.
Exactly. But 10k is still way bellow SVA's 21k cap.
Are you sure, it would be great if so. I asked Axa what happens if I have an additional employee but they said that I'd need to have a new insurance. Which is weird as the same price applies even if I try o add three employees under my name. Maybe I just do the insurance for 3 people in advance and then don't need to repeat the procedure if I manage to find the additional people (I have a bit unusual situation where I need people for very different times and hence looking for different parallel employees).
May I ask which company you opted for?
I have had Axa for years - cannot speak to quality as never had an accident to be declared but am with Axa for other stuff and was happy.
When I had 2 employees I simly wrote to them and they modified the contract, I just looked and premium went from 100 to 170 (this was a few yrs back).
I find it always simple to deal with Axa.

Adding to this thread as it fits - Does anyone know the 'qualititative' difference between accident insurance that is added to your health insurance when you are 'not working' and accident insurance provided by the employer when you are working ?
Is there a substantial difference (other than 'who pays' ?)....
Ah, I just answered my question using this link:
https://www.ch.ch/en/insurance/accid...ts-are-covered
The 'devil is in the detail' - if you are at-home insured (via your health insurance) and not working more than 8 hours per week, you have to pay the franchise(gap). If you are employed, and have an accident, whether it's home or at work (or in between) - there is no franchise (gap), and it also accounts for paying 80% of your salary....
We are using quitt.ch. they handle the accident insurance.
If you work less than 8 hours per week then you are not covered for work-related accident insurance.
It may be that Quitt calculates whether or not the insurance must be paid.... but I wonder what happens if I am a cleaner who is working for 4 different employers ? Overall, I work more than 8 hours per week, but if it's with different payroll companies/employers then what happens if I have an accident ?
When we had a household cleaner we took out accident insurance with the company where we have our household insurance. It's a separate policy and we were able to cancel it pretty much instantly when the cleaner left. It didn't cost us much, I thing it was 110 CHF/year and I suspect that it will be much the same for all the regular insurance companies.
