My first wife was, probably still is, an acupuncturist, she successfully treated a friends kitten that was already booked in to have a paw amputated because of nerve damage (it spent a night hanging from a curtain cord it got the paw trapped in). Surprisingly peaceful process too, the kitten generally fell asleep when the needles went in.
For pain relief it seems to have been very effective in humans but really needs the underlying cause treated; my ex used to complain about GPs going on weekend acupuncture courses and then just needling pain relief points until they stopped working.
I’d say try it.
We used Dr Rohdewald near Zug which is probably too far for you but he may know someone in your area.
Don’t think twice, give it a go and see if it helps.
