Advice sought on Tax return

Hi all,

I hope someone has some advice on what is my best course of action. My situation is I sent all my documents for my tax return to a Tax Return agency, I have used them for 4 years and they have been good to date.

I received a Mahnung from Canton Schwyz tax authorities and immediately asked about the progress of the tax return, they said it was in internal review and will be sent shortly, this was 2 weeks ago.

Now I still haven't got the tax return, and I take the family for a month-long summer break tomorrow. Now I have a problem as my wife and I would need to sign the docs before their return.

I have already contacted the Canton SZ Tax authorities to ask for a stay of execution (the dreaded CHF 10k fine) until my return in August.

Is there anything else I can do to avoid the fine and flying back to CH mid-holiday?

Many thanks for any advice, all are welcome.

This is the tax return for the 2022 tax year ?
You should be able to register a postponement of the deadline yourself. You must act before 31.7.2023.
This looks relevant to you [DE] and appears to allow you to postpone it untiil the end of December 2023:

Incidentally, CHF 10’000 seems a high fine. Are you sure that is correct ? The normal threat, if you fail to submit a tax form, is that they make their own assessment of your tax and bill you accordingly.

Shouldn’t your agent have done all this for you ?

Thanks for the advice, I'll see if I can set the deadline back.

But in the meantime, the Canton SZ Tax office has replied to my email and said they are good if I hand in the documents on my return in August.

Massive sigh of relief!
