If it’s a Merc from the 90s, yes.
The generator is probably not using a modern Diesel engine... and you are probably not using modern Diesel fuel in it either...
The main difference between Heizöl and Diesel for the Merc is that diesel used in cars is split into summer diesel and winter diesel, as you can ́t burn summer diesel in a car in winter due to flocking, where the fuel starts to solidify into a waxy substance when it gets cold. Winter diesel like Heizöl is treated so that it wont flock. Problem with winter diesel though is that you dont get the same bang for your buck.
We actually buy the diesel at the normal petrol pump. A small truck is sent with 9-12 barrels and and driver, they fill it up and drive back. No, it's not in Europe where there probably is some rule banning this.
Generators are, for the most part, ancient British things. We are replacing them as they break, as spare parts cost as much as a new generator from China.

Unless you have problems with condensed water (unlikely with a full tank as that removes the air and its humidity), and if "green" fuels are not a thing there, you're probably good.
Most obsurd recomendation I've ever read. Transporting a flamable liquid permanently inside a car is like wishing for death.

Different from gasoline yes, less flammable than gasoline yes, but definitely flammable! The ignition point varies from 55 °C to 65 °C depending on the type.
The point i was trying to make is that diesel is hard work to get spontaneously combustion. Sure it is flammable but you can put a lighted match out in diesel, the flashpoint is far higher than gasoline
Buy 149 motorbikes, fill their tanks up and store them in your garage. Think of them as Jerrycans on wheels

Usually fill them when the French decide strike or there’s a possible run on petrol stations in the UK, it’s also the maximum Eurotunnel will allow you to transport.
So only used CH <> UK in times of “turbulence.”
Otherwise they’re empty. Diesel goes off after a while anyway, so pretty much as soon as I can empty the can I do so.

Na works for us too, as a landrover driver it's either on the roofrack or in the back, i mean whats the difference if it's in a tank slung under the body or in a jerry can?
In Spain you are allowed to store up to a maximum amount of gasoline with some restrictions (maximum temp and ventilation).
Aren't in Switzerland some similar regulations?
