Apologies for hijacking this thread. My BMW X4 is now out of warranty - it seems from the discussions here that going to a local garage for repairs and the like is the sensible thing to do. Would really appreciate suggestions on how to find a garage that has BMW 'know-how'. i live near Lausanne, btw.
7000 km in 18 Months. A taxi would have been cheaper
For changing brake pads and discs there is no need of "BMW know how". For some special repairs maybe. I would first try the local shop option.
I have a repair shop across the border for planned maintenance and a local shop for emergencies.
Avoid AMAG at all costs.
Sounds like an idea to evaluate after COVID time. Haven't been to Germany for shopping for a year.

AMAG are (I think) just a VW group main dealer.
I unfortunately took my old diesel VW for a minor (oil change) service, cost over CHF650, that would be 10 years ago.
The car wasn’t old at the time.
They did change a number plate bulb though!

People wouldn’t believe how unlucky one can get in a short period of time.( i posted 3 complains in a row) So I post the invoices now. My German isn’t good maybe you can find out more interesting items in the invoice.
What I learned is that there are really a lot of contractual parties who are ready to take advantages of anyone unprepared. EF can be a good help for expats.
ohhhh scheiben (brake discs). So, FMF guess was right.
It can either be: (i) that the dealership decided to unnecessarily change the discs just to make the invoice higher, (ii) car was driven in a fun way during those 60K km before you, (iii) you're having great fun with the car in your short time with it, (iv) brake pads were not replaced when needed (poor maintenance).
The way out of the questions is to measure the old discs thickness and compare to the recommended manufacturer standard. If the discs were effectively kaput, no one is taking advantage from anyone.
I think this is the Audi dealer market price. It's just a bit questionable that you had to change them after 7000 km. Assuming that you're not a race driver, the brakes must have been almost gone when selling the car.
In the end, I'm happy to receive a 500 CHF voucher offered by AMAG.
