my "old laptop is struggling (2008 model) and I have been seduced by the sleek design and portability promised by the zen-book. however ? need some much wanted advise regarding the above purchase, as i am not a computer buff.. will i regret buying this laptop, as the model above is equipped with a Intel i3-2367M, 1.4 GHz processor..
really use my laptop mostly for internet browsing, office apps for project work and studies and so on, occasionally watching a film on the move, and yes music player. (guess most new computers will be able to handle this) have a tendency to have 10-20 Firefox sessions running in addition to 2 or three office apps running)
I must admit I am lured by the price-tag of only 719CHF but cannot decide if i am buying a cat in a bag, and would be better off spending 3-500CHFmore for a higher grade processor..
any insights, thoughts or comments would be much appreciated
I am fortunate to be using this to post reply - it was only available for one day before the double-discount error was picked up.

also spotted that a new wersion of the Zenbook is out....
Lastly, Windows 8 is knocking on the door, this propably will mean new ultrobook hybrids... however there is always a new and improved version lining up in the corridor,
Any Thoughts ?
The two Acers immediately above on I.D.'s notebook list seem to represent better spec. for money - but I know nothing about them either.
I even went to a competitors vendor to ask about the performance aspects of ultra books and the processor issue.. he ended up reccomending me to go for it, despite the sale was with the competitor, a ultrabook of that standard to 719CHF is a great buy was his last words to me
first impressions WOW,
in comparrison to my 5 year old retirement ready pc running vista, it is indeed much faster, despite only having an I3 processor.
it fits my requirements for portability, quick start up , love the instant recovery from sleep mode.. less than 1 sec from lifting the lid, I am working, and allready recconected to the network and internet.
there was much slack about the keyboard and trackpad, however i can only say it fits my fat finger typing perfectly...
style wise it looks just as sleek as the advertiers want us to beleive, it is really light and does not get warm despite extended usage.
The screen is only 13 inch and I was also concerned if this would annoy me.. propably if this was my work computer (but then again I have 3 large displays at work and still seem to run out of screen space.. )
Thank you all for your great advise and thoughts on this matter..

nb forgot to mention the Bang & Olufson intetnal speakers makes a decent sound fro a small labtop devise as the Zenbook..
Nearly all PC keyboards have a CTRL key immediately next to the cursor (arrow) keys on the keyboard. So, when you're using Word or whatever, you can hit CTRL + Left to skip back a word, CTRL + Right to move forward a word.
Samsung, ridiculously, have slipped a SECOND "Fn" key on their keyboards, in between the CTRL key and the cursor keys.
So with Samsung laptops, you attempt to hit CTRL + Left, but actually hit Fn + Left. You laptop then has a spasm for a few seconds, before rotating the entire screen 90'.
It - drives - me - nuts.
Thankfully, the higher end Samsung laptops avoid this keyboard layout, but for the budget range laptops (like the ones in M-Electronics 33%-off sale) they all seem to have this problem.
Maybe you'll grow use to it.
But for me, that extra pointless key is enough to put me off a Samsung laptop.
Just, try before you buy, and judge for yourself.
And the keyboard is absolutely fine with me. I actually only accept the islet keyboards now and that one fits the bill perfectly. The wayward Fn doesn't seem to get in the way at all. But in the end I won't use this laptop much myself

HP is the only brand I'm trying to avoid by all means but others may be more open-minded
