Another fundsmith question

The "market" is really just a casino at this point.

And it's not even a "real" casino, it's a crooked casino.

Declaring insanity to be the new normal doesn't make it less insane.

There is nothing crooked about the stock market, it's just a market where you can get a price to buy & sell every day the market is open, with prices being offered changing every few seconds.

If your home was valued to market, it's value would be ZERO most of the time as you don't have a bid to support anything more.

Big developed markets like the US markets where regulators can catch many scammers (not all of course) are actually much safer markets to invest/trade your money. Think about real estate or even the used car markets how many crooks exist in these markets.

I doubt the shareholders of Enron, World Com, WorldCom and Lehmans, to mention a few would agree with you.

Those companies were not manipulating the market price. Buyers just believed what management said & their Auditors confirmed.

There are many fraudsters all over the world for example VW dieselgate, Tanaka airbags etc. Do you own research and buy established companies with real businesses.

Or buy the market and be done with it

There is no need to be Gordon Gekko

too late to buy the market.

Another fundsmith question: How do you buy the smithson fund?

On the London Stock Exchange, it was volatile yesterday with gyrations of about 8%, it's up another 4.8% this morning higher than on 10 December 2019 to put things in perspective.

Or buy FS as they do the heavy lifting of analyzing good companies

there are many fund companies..not sure why some users in this forum promote this one. in any case you pay for whatever services they offer...

So far I am quite happy with their returns..... more so than with other funds. So that is for me a very good reason to buy more. They have an excellent track record if you look at those funds.

I have been interested in the Fund since 2012 & have followed Terry Smith for almost 30 years. I first mentioned the fund on the forum in 2013 & there was a chime of it's a new fund with no history. Fast forward 7 years & it's the no 1 performing fund Global fund since inception, 10 year figures at the end of the year.

You might want to buy his book 'Accounting for growth' first published in 1992, it got him sacked from UBS Philips & Drew where he was their chief Banking Analyst, he was unemployable for some time. However 18 months later 3 of the FTSE 100 companies he spoke about had gone bankrupt, he has always been outspoken & almost always spot on although very few people agreed with him at the time.

I’m interested in the fund and tried to contact them without success. Can you tell me the best way to contact them? I’ve tried email and calling the Swiss guy.

What specifically do you want to know? They have a lot of information on the website.

What 'Swiss guy' ? The funds are in the UK & Luxembourg based. I have spoken on the phone & had email communication with both.

I was going to ask them about tax implications for Swiss domiciled people and the reports they generate for that. I know they ask for your TIN. Also is the fund only GBP? Yes I’ve read the website.

They invest in US stocks (US$). The fund is GBP then I’m in CHF. What are the effective losses through that?

They can’t give you advise

£ is just a valuation currency about 3% of the profits come from the U.K., rather like Nestle where 2% of profits come from CH.

You can see the performance in 4 currencies on the European website

Ok thanks. Can you tell me where you get those figures from?

Also how did you invest with them? Was it online?
