It's like everywhere else in this world! Some people love them and some hate them. Switzerland is no different. I'm a Brit and they aren't for me but lots of Brits have got them and like them.
I've seen plenty of women in summer with those "lacy-type" tattoos in the small of their backs and a Swiss (girl) friend of mine has a tattoo on her ankle, which is quite a big one, and a small tattoo on her chest.
You'll find Switzerland surprisingly tolerant of all sorts of things which would probably be frowned on in the more conservative areas of the US.
I also have a number of tattoos and will probably have more in the future.....mainly to update old ones! I am aware that many people don't see them as acceptable in a business environment and to be quite honest I agree that's why I keep them covered at work. Don't think it would go down too well me rockin up to a meeting in a short sleeve shirt, tats, shaved head, 190 lbs of rippling muscle...............ok I embellished the last bit slightly......., but you know what I mean
It's all about perception really... people think because you have tats you are a bad or aggressive person, I had my original tats to cover up some horrible crap I let someone do at school, now that I would have regretted leaving on my arm...but the ones now...no.
That would be the "Arschgeweih" or "tramp stamp"... Mind you, I have a friend who go hers in the last century, before it got that connotation and she's quite upset about it and considering having it removed.
That's horrible, beautifully executed though. Love the name tramp stamp. will have to use it to my chav niece.
A chap in Thailand (westerner married to Thai woman) got into a magazine for having a bluebottle done on his glans, he was photographed vomitting from pain.
I have 2 tattoos a small rose that you can only see if im in a bikin, and a big tiger tattoo on my right hand shoulder that you can only see if i have a backless top on. I had my rose done with my mum 12 years ago and the tiger 9 years ago with my husband (he also as a tiger on his arm) we have never regretted it. I see lots of people especially young girls with tattoos it seems to getting more popular.
Have you seen cat int the USA he is turning himself into a tiger i would post a photo but dont know how to sorry if anybody could then i would be grateful thanks
It depends on the social circle you are in, or if you are career minded, the social circle you would like to be in. I personally would never get a tattoo because there are stereotypes that are associated with it... and because I like to keep my body clean, a tattoo would drive me nuts. There is a high correlation between social status and tattoos. Successful career minded people are rarely seen with a tattoo, whereas low wage types (or unemployed people) are more likely to have a tattoo. Take a thousand lawyers, doctors, bankers and a thousand porn actors, "sanitation engineers", construction workers and compare the tattoo ratios. I wouldn't be surprised to see a much higher ration in the latter group.
