Ask for help: German company doesn't want to provide lessons we paid for

Hello everyone,

I've bought a big package of online language lessons back in 2016 from a German company. The package had no expiration. And the company changed ownership a couple of years ago. The company now refuses to give us the lessons without giving specific reason, other than not being able to get in touch with the previous owner.

I'm out of ideas. What are our options? Is there some Swiss / German organization that could help?

Thanks for any help!

I am a tad confused, if you bought the package in 2016, why didn't you use it?

- Was the company taken over or did the company just the business stock?

- Are the lessons still available or have they been replaced by newer ones?

As usual, a complaint post without giving any useful details. Does this company that has changed ownership even still provide German lessons? Is it in fact now a different company since when you purchased the tickets?

Call them, or even better go and visit their offices, and speak to them nicely and reasonably and see if you can come to an agreement. Apologise for not using the lessons but explain life got in the way or whatever, because sending them threats or demands by email will likely get you nothing but stonewalled.

Sure is, the court.

Thanks everyone, here are some more details that I forgot to include:

The company still exists and provides German lessons. It's the same company, with the same name, just changed the ownership. The previous owner informed us about the change, and that a new owner would be taking over and continuing the business.

We purchased the lessons back in 2016 since I had a dedicated budget from my employer. That budget had to be used in that year. There was a promotion on the lesson packages so we bought more. But we knew we wouldn't use them right away but rather at a later stage. Mostly since our kids were little at that time and there was not much free time this is why it was important that the packages had no expiration, which was confirmed by the previous owner.

We have invoices for all packages we purchased. We've been going forth and back via email with the new owner. But at some point she just sent a message that she refuses our claims.

I don't know who could help with that, any ideas very much appreciated. Thanks again

Where is the company incorporated? You normally have to sue defendants at their place of business, so the local court there is who can help you
