Hi all,
I am in my way of being promoted to an associate director level in pharma industry. In order to prepare myself for salary negotiation, I would like to know the following:
- What is the approximate base salary (without the bonus) I should expect in an AD role in pharma (pharmacovigilance or other R&D area info is welcome ) ?
- What percentage of increase from my current salary to my new one should I expect (without the bonus)?
Here is a bit of info:
- Me: Pharmacist with a PhD and 10 years of experience in the field and almost 4 years in the company
- The company: Major US pharma company (World Top 5)
- Field: Drug safety - Pharmacovigilance
- Type of role: Global Role/global responsibilities
- Location: Basel
Thank you in advance for any info you'll provide
So JnJ or Abbvie then ? I'm sure any of your potential new colleagues will be very interested in any answers, especially if you could share your current salary which is the only way to answer your question about % increase with our guesses, I mean estimates.
Base salary is impossible to answer accurately without much more information. A range of 120-170k base would be my best guess with the limited details provided.
For % salary increase this could be anywhere from around 5-15%, again depending on many factors - including where your salary currently sits in the range for your existing role, peers doing the same or similar role, etc.
Hmmm..... I get the impression you are actually trying to get the low down on another persons salary, in a round about way?
If you are already in a position lower in the same company you would have an idea or could speak to your HR Business partner as to what to expect.
If not and this is about you and you are in the process just wait and you'll soon find out and be able to compare it against what you already get and see if it is what you would want.
When you are an internal candidate for a role/promotion there is not that much room for negotiation!
Thank you all for your answers.
Star204: answer to your first question is obviously no. I asked this question because HR is not willing to provide the range salary for the position at the moment.
Of course, it is just a question of time and to wait. I was asking to anticipate, do my own benchmark and in order to be prepared in case of negociation.
The ScottiCH One: Thank you that is very useful.
