I know it has been discussed in some other threads that as a non-EU residence, with an open-ended working contract (and still being employed), however, each year the B-permit renewal is required.
I almost never heard the story that such renewal is rejected (if everything is normal - no criminal, etc.), however, each time of such renewal, it's always a risk (althougth rejection rate would be low). I just would like to ask that what happens if such renewal is rejected (due to whatever reason)? Does it mean - let's say my permit is expired at 03.15, and I got notification of rejection at end of Feb. - then meaning that by the day of 03.16, all my working situation is stopped? and no salary will be paid, and have to be forced leave the country on that day?
and of course, unemployment-benefit will be impossible as well, since no chance to ask for it by being forced to leave the country.
And moreover, also curious that if no legal permit to work, does it mean the working contract with the employer will be just terminated? or it's like pending, and maybe can have other way around to re-apply the permit elsewhere as workaround? (then resume the work again)
You/your employer has 30 days to appeal the decision iirc.
As for when you need to leave, that depends on your nationality. If it’s one that allows you to visit Switzerland without the need for a tourist visa then you would have up to 90 days from the end of the permit termination to stay here and get ready to leave the country. If you do need a tourist visa then I think you might get a little while after the permit ends to sort things out, but it’s not that long.
"30 days to appeal the decision" sounds interesting, but if the decision is made already the canton, is there still possibilities that they change their decision after this appealing? And also i think this needs the condition that the employer is willing to help you, right? otherwise still no way?
and if the "little bit while to sort things out" is not long, how about the existing contract within Switzerland, automatically ended? e.g. rental, electricity, inusrance and so on, which is regularly paid and some of them have certain amount of notification period (which might be way much longer than this "short time"?)
I have never heard of a B permit renewal being rejected. I had one for 10 years and it was always renewed. A few times it was delayed, once over 4 months, but that wasn’t anything to do with me.
If the Canton wanted to get rid of you, they will just revoke your permit, expiry dates not important.

you mean, you had once which was a bit delay (e.g. over few months?)?, but then? how was the gap time? you are still allowed to work? or your working status just pending there (and of course you did not get paid during those period), once the permit is issued, then, you ressume the work?
btw, I used to see some other post elsewhere stating similar isssues about renewal permit, and it was mentioned that "receiving support from health care insurance payments" would be also one possible reason of getting rejection of permit renewal? or extend permit from B->C.
that to me sounds a bit confusing, the health insurrance (or other kind of insurance) is something we paid to get some support in urgent case, how possible that receiving payment from insurance could be a reason that get rejected from permit renew? what if I am really sick, and what if I really break someone's glass, or damage somebody else's stuffs? Do I still have the right to ask insurance to support?
So, then, this means normal claim and getting reimbursement from different kind of insurances is unrelavent to permit renewal, right?
Meanwhile, let's say if I have low income, how it affects the insurance support? they pay me back something? or the monthly payment is lower than standard?
