Does the baby have thrush in his mouth? If this thumb was his favourite pacifier, he should have his mouth checked, too.
Yes we checked thoroughly, and his mouth is clean!
According to the doctor you need to go on with treatment for at least a week after the infection has visually cleared, otherwise it comes back. It seems to be a bit like antibiotics in that regard.
The night was a bit rough, as his thumb was not accessible. So he asked to nurse all the time, using me as a pacifier instead

Well, I've always been against them, and none of my 3 kids ever used one. And now that he's 1 year old he'd refuse it. He barely tolerates bottles to drink water, and refused them until the heatwave.
Does your baby like being carried? Maybe bandage him up and then carry him around in a woven wrap, in a way his hand can't reach his mouth...
You can even nurse in a wrap if he wants to suckle. Guess you're going to have to endure being a human pacifier for the next 2 weeks though...
We have an ergo baby carrier, and he likes being in it. But he's too big to be swaddled now, and he wouldn't tolerate to have his arms stuck.
So far I've dealt well with the pre-nap and pre-night cream session, as I then immediately nurse him to sleep. The morning one is harder.
I passed at the pharmacy this morning, and the pharmacist said he would really need to swallow the whole tube in one go for it to be really toxic. She advised to drop the morning dose, and take off the bandage when he's awake.
