Hi all!
I am a Canadian Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who is moving over to Switzerland at the end of the year (Haute-Nendaz) to join my Husband. I am currently in the process of trying to figure out how to have my qualifications recognized so that I can continue to practice psychotherapy there. Does anyone here by chance know any Canadians who have successfully done this? Or have first hand knowledge of the process? I have been researching a little bit but it is terribly confusing and would really help if anyone has any real life advice!

I have no knowledge about the procedure of getting the professional qualification for foreigner, but I would like to remind you the language being a potential issue. In Switzerland, the common spoken languages are German and French (and also Italian). This does not mean people here cannot speak and understand English, but for some, they may have limited capability. I think for the situation of psychotherapy, verbal communication needs to be accurate and smooth.

I would add that even if clients speak English, all of the paperwork here to bill insurance, etc. is going to be in an official language. It would be helpful to be fluent in the local official language in order to deal with bureaucracy.
