Behaviour on roundabouts in Switzerland

As someone else pointed out - this was a discussion of roundabout driving.

Are pedestrians driving around roundabouts? I think not.

So, driving around roundabouts at the speed other drivers do has no major safety consequences. No need to slow down to the point of other road users honking at you.

Then what was the purpose of bringing up a chart of pedestrian fatalities?

I’m surprised nobody’s mentioned cyclists yet.

meh mentioned that drivers accelerate to exit roundabouts and this is a risk for pedestrians. I’m trying to find the systemic risk…maybe is not there, there might not be anything particularly wrong about local customs for driving

I was going to do so but then I don’t think I could face the inevitable response, “But cyclists go through red lights…”

Actually, the lack of signaling left for third exits by motorists is a complete pain for cyclists.

…yes they do go through red lights but many drivers are simply diCKs. And cyclists with their chaotic behaviour trigger them. When you drive a SUV (for instance) you can’t let yourself triggered and annoyed by cyclists. Simples. That counts for the incidents with arseholistic drivers; some of them simply lack any forward thinking and preventive driving skills. (yes you do have to think for the cyclist too in certain situations; it’s not only you and your precious car on planet earth)

Absolutely LOVING this word…

Yeah, I can get very creative in my mother tongue too! :joy: I know it wasn’t very nice of me but some years ago when I was commuting for work by car (in canton ZH btw) I have seen some episodes that still make my blood boil…which in turn made me very reluctant to cycle. :frowning:
I still stand by everything I wrote.
Edit; I am with Tom1234 on this issue - don’t share his POV entirely though.
