Best 7 seater 4x4

Also, for people who dont feel they need to compansate for their small things with big cars...

The answers on this thread remind me of the days when I lived near the International school where the yummy-mummies queued up to collect their little darlings in their Q7s and BMW X-whatevers and then drove home, incredibly fast, totally ignoring the fact that the local kids had also just finished school and were wondering why the massive SUVs wouldn't stop at the pedestrian crossings for them.

Big SUVs driver - my kids are okay and who gives a sh*t about other peoples' kids.

(Yes, I realise from the posts here that this applies to half the people on this forum - it's just they don't recognise themselves in the mirror).

When one drives as a single occupant a VW Polo/Golf then they're inside more than ONE metric ton vehicle for themselves, surrounded with airbags and crash zones.

When one drives a TWO metric ton minibus with 7 persons inside, everybody gets its share of less then 300kg of stuff around them.

here we go, 4x4 bashing

Yeah, while it all started by a rubbish post asking something absolutely dumb, and people rushed to "help".

Mee, waant the best! Me don't say any "needs" but me waant the beeest.

But meee don't want to pay full price.

Get serious people, a "25-35k on a car that is nearly new (not brand new) " and you suggest a XC 90?`

Unless we don't have the same definition of "nearly new".

Anyway. "the best", let me laugh.

Miserable question. Miserable answers.

Yes, I grant you, I have pathetic attitude (to waste my time even answering that junk).

Actually, that's a good point... Why next to new?

Get a Dacia... the dokker or the logan will both cost 9000-12000 new and carry 7 people... yes, everyone else on this forum will make pointless jokes, and try to justify why their car is better than the Dacia...

That said, I refer you to this thread:

https://www.englishforum.ch/transpor...bull-bars.html

where after putting my argument forward, I haven't had any recommendations on a better car

(on a side note, picked up my duster last week - turns out it comes with a steel sumpguard as stock, so the one I ordered isn't that needed. That said, I may still fit the aftermarket one as it covers part of the front bumper too... so provides a bit of scratch protection)

M.

Well, no. Real estate is expensive in CH, so developers like to save money. Fortunately are legal processes slow, so the building standards are from what seems the 1970s. It's not just SUVs. ALL cars got much bigger. Just look at the default car - VW Golf - and compare what a mk 1 looked to a current model. Or the original Mini to what passes as "mini" in size today.

Most of it has to do with comfort and luxury, but a huge chunk is safety as well...

Nope - just "mahoooosive 4x4" bashing. Nothing wrong with a 4x4, especially if your typical journey takes you beyond the gently sloping, fully paved Zurich area. In this particular case, a 7-seater is being requested, which obviously rules out "Kombi", but most of the outsize 4x4 that I see have just one person in them (typically a woman with an expensive dye job, usually chatting on a phone).

If only those people who genuinely NEEDED such a big car would buy the wretched things, it would not cause as many problems. But several of my acquaintances who do not have kids and say they never want them have intentionally chosen the biggest SUV from the brand that they happen to identify with, simply because they like marking their presence. This is also reflected in how they drive and how they talk about smaller cars on the road around them - "move out of my way, you little piece of cr@p" is putting it mildly. So when you choose a car like that, you are exposing yourself to negative reactions from people who are hacked off at this kind of driver. My friend's SUV that he chose because he needs to pull a horse trailer and his mum finds it easier to get into a higher car gets heavily keyed at least once a year.

Sounds like you secretly want a big SUV

Nah, I want the other kind of annoying and frowned-upon car - a convertible with a nice sound (as in a nice, deep hum, none of that shouty rubbish) and a decent amount of power. If I get one with a remote controlled roof, I will have resolved the issue of blocked doors once and for all - bonus!

I'm tempted to open a new thread asking "what truck should I buy for my new house build project" and see bicyclists go mad ))

that's nothing. i know people that wear expensive shoes with high heals even though cheap sandals would be sufficient.

Disco. Hands down.

I don't have a problem with 4x4s.

I have a problem with the type of people who own them for urban shopping and school runs.

But, it's a free country. Do what you want.

My recommendation is BMW 2er GrandTourer series: http://www.bmw.ch/de/neuwagen/2/gran...tartseite.html

It is not the biggest 7 seater you can get but if you need it only occasionally, this will suit your need.

30 year old truck hits 17 year old stationary shitbox at 40 mph and causes damage.

Not exactly surprise news, is it?

I will admit, whilst I'm a fan of a Q7. Their size makes them inappropriate for some inner city parking spots, and tight underground carparks too...as noted by some others here.

So...people, help the OP, what's the besssssst 4x4? what's almost new and the bessssst, but within the budget OP defined? Come on, I'm sure someone knows that, no?

Just 1900 CHF above the asked price range: https://en.comparis.ch/carfinder/mar.../show/22558891
