Best Mobile Plans CH to US/EU/UK ??

Hello all,

Any suggestions of the best providers or comparison tools online to check for a CH mobile phone plan, unlimited Call/Data within CH, with free calls/sms to US & EU/UK??

Had great Salt 24month contract that is coming to an end soon.

For 35chf, I had unlimited Calls/SMS/Data with calls from CH to CH/US/UK/EU/Australia (don't remember the roaming costs when outside CH).

Looks like I am going to have to switch providers or perhaps (unoptimistic) give a try at negotiating something with Salt.

..... complicated, but they have started some shinanigans with last month's bill which they are currently researching and looks like I most probably won't get to continue with nearly the same contract.

btw .... checked comparis.ch but they do not have any info on international calling from CH.

Any thoughts welcome,

Alao.ch is a Swiss mobile comparison site.

A lot has changed in the last few years and offers are becoming more competative , if short lived. I discovered that there are many deals “only available online” - such as free sim, an extra year at 50% discount etc.

But having recently decided on Sunrise mobile L, I popped into their shop and was offered all the exclusive on-line deals there!

Lycamobile swiss M, 24.-

Flat data and voice in CH and to EU/UK.

Swisscom network.

I have been a great Lycamobile fan and used the Swiss M package for about 8 years - but sadly the wheels recently came off.

On a trip to the UK about an hour after landing and establishing a signal and using the phone, I lost all phone and data. This meant I couldn't phone Lyca customer service, but had to email them when on Wi-Fi.

After the initial autoresponder, I had to wait 36 hours for a response. Their jumbled solution didn't work and I gave up until back in Switzerland.

Back here it still did not work, but I could at least call on my partner's Lycamobile phone and raise a ticket. They told me (or rather read) the same standard settings, which didn't work and emailed to say the ticket was closed. I had to raise 2 more tickets and at times the people I spoke to's English was so bad, I had to keep asking to repeat what they said. The German is to the same standard. Customer service is anywhere from Morocco to North Macedonia.

Finally I told them to send a new SIM card, which I diagnosed was the problem. This was free but required a considerable number of identification hoops before it would work and I could transfer my number to the new sim.

In short, you get what you pay for and their roaming is patchy...

We had sunrise and the roaming didn't really work well. That was also true for various budget SIMs.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to offer your thoughts. Big Help!!

I have Yallo Super Fat XXL. Free calls and data in and to Europe, & in USA & Canada. Think I pay 45 a month - they regularly have deals.

I raised a new post, since it is a slightly different problem / question, on the tricky / questionable practices I feel Salt is playing with me.

To add to the voices here, I am with Yallo for a long time. The plan I have is no longer available, but they still honour the old agreement:

Unlimited minutes to CH, EU, UK

Unlimited texts to CH, EU, UK

Limited internet in Switzerland

Short termination notice

CHF 39 per month

Once in a while, they call with more improved offers, which I haven't yet taken them up on.

Final Analysis:

I called every mobile phone company operated in CH and currently the cheapest to the US is TalkTalk.

I'm not going to go through all the prices, because these are constantly changing.

TalkTalk says the current plan is "lifetime" and they won't change the rate by "rezoning" the way Salt did.

They also said the founder is American and has a bias towards low rates to the US.

Downside is that to signup over the phone, the only way to purchase a TalkTalk chip is to go through MobileZone. Their sales service is horrible. They tell you things that are blatantly untrue, or that they know they don't know to be true (literally "sure we can wave those fees" then later contradict) just to make a sale. They say they will send you the contract right away and then you don't hear from them for a couple days and must keep calling back. They have an overly complicated way of signing up, send you a chip with no instructions so you have to waste an hour on hold to figure out what to do next, are unnecessarily high maintenance when unnecessary and just a general bad attitude.

However, upside is the customer service with TalkTalk has been excellent. So if you want to get the truth of fees, coverage, how everything works, be sure to call up TalkTalk directly and verify everything the MobileZone sales said.

Hope this helps.

Those who have Yallo Super Fat XXL, when you're calling abroad do the recipients see your real Swiss Yallo number or some random junk?

I've tried many mobile options, even HELLO EUROPE package from Salt, all substitute your number with something random (with prefix from random country).
