xcept the defender can be alittle more as it would be new
If you can be bothered to import one from England (really not that much hassle) then this Defender is a bloody good deal:

Or if you want to spend a little more, this is unbelievable value (LR have been clearing their LHD MY2009 stock on the UK)
but the hassle of importing......well going to UK to check it out, paperwork, checkpoints here.....
Good luck with your search.

30k CHF including import taxes
cause i checked the pics again.
you know the seller? how do you know the price?
This one leaves you some thousands for petrol and taxes and since it is from Zug it probably has not been smashed down the Autobahn forever, so the mileage should not be that much of an issue.
I personally would never buy any of those and if: There is only one "Geländewagen"... but they are popular and therefore over the budget...
Taking about the G ? my dad has 2 (one old beater one and one newer one) one word....AWeSOME
As for the ML55 they, and all of the 1st generation M-Class, have shocking build quality and it will cost you an absolute fortune over a few years.
I have a Defender and apart from banging it over the odd curb or sploshing around in an untypically messy Swiss carpark I have to take it over the border into France or Germany to do anything off road.
I have taken it up a track and into the woods and got told off by the logging guys quite effectively.
To be honest I would even check if you are allowed to off-road on private land. I would imagine there is some rule about it.
Will it rock crawl? No. Can you lock the diffs? No.
Does have sufficent ground clearance to get through reasonable snow drifts, drops etc? Yes and the 4x4 system is ok too.
Note, im not arguing I am genuinely interested.
As for the Defender, it has its pros and cons. It is hand assembled which means fitting/changes parts is so easy. The negative is the build quality can sometimes be rubbish. However, if you are in the middle of the desert and need to change something, it is easy on the Defender.
And then we have the Range Rover, which I will confess I own. Bloody amazing and apparently very good off road (I've driven mine through very thick snow and up mountains but nothing really that hard). Whilst I love the RR (I have the Full Fat version), the build quality is not as good as my last car, a 5 series BMW.
