White coat hypertension is definitely an issue, are you comfortable with your Dr? If not possibly find a new one, being 100% comfortable with your Dr is really important, just OK is not good enough.
I really would advise against postponing the appointment.
Go and see the doctor next week and find out the results of the 24 hour monitoring. It may well be that the results are fine and the high results really are down to the white coat effect.
If the results do show a baseline high blood pressure then you can discuss the possible options with him. The pill can have an effect on your BP and be may advise changing but that's probably best discussed with your gynaecologist.
There are 2 kinds of Blood Pressure Monitors (1. which is put on your wrist and 2. which is put on your arms)
The ones you put on your wrist are cheaper but is not accurate as it depends how you place your wrist. The ones which you put on your arm is a bit expensive and is much more accurate.
When it comes to health I would not compromise neither on quality nor accuracy.
My mother has a blood pressure monitor which is quite accurate but the problems is that you can't track the history. The memory functions are not intuitive and can't be easily tracked unless you have the device.
So after doing quite a bit of research, my conclusion is to buy Withings blood pressure monitor ( http://www.withings.com ).
I have the weighing scale from them and I would say they are the best.
Thanks. Don't take this the wrong way, but it is kind of a relief to hear of others of my age experiencing the same problem. When I first found out I thought I must be a complete freak to have such high blood pressure at a young age and being 100% healthy in every other aspect. I'll keep the appointment. Doc already knows I take the pill, so I think it could be a case of coming off that for a while and seeing if that makes a huge difference. Haven't had the results back for my kidneys yet, but as you say, that could also be a contributing factor.
Thanks to everyone who has replied so far, I really appreciate all your advice!
Had one of them for a few years and it's still working without any problems. Doesn't get a lot of use, but seems robust enough and is showing no signs of age. Been through about three sets of batteries, to give an idea of how much it's used, in around 5 years (+/-2 years either way). I saw them in Lidl France yesterday as it happens, and noticed that it's a different model with a separate cuff, http://www.lidl-ni.co.uk/cps/rde/xch...ndex_27589.htm , whereas ours is one that has the strap integral to the unit itself. Possibly the separate one would be better.
Hello everyone. Reviving an old topic. Anyone has any recent experiences with a product they would recommend? Is the Nokia replacement of the old Whitings anygood? Any other products work well with the iPhone. I am looking for something reliable, and easy to connect with phone/computer in order to keep track of previous readings. Thanks in advance...
Got the original Withings BP monitor (the green one) links well with my Android tablet and the wife's ipad, keeps a good record of the readings with various display options.
I have been using the Withings wireless BP Monitor for more than 2 years. I am extremely happy with it. It works seamlessly with iPhone and very easy to look back into history. Even after Nokia took over Withings they seem to keep the originality of Withings intact. Also other products of Withings like weighing scale and thermo works excellent with iPhone and is very convenient and intuitive to use
