Noticed this place the other day, haven't used it though. It's located near the train station in Lausanne and seems to offer both Brazilian and Japanese straightening among other things. http://www.toucouleurs.com/
Well I was going to post this question and thank goodness I did a search first! I had mine done in London in Aug so now 2 months ago...its not as smooth as it was then but its still a lot loss frizz then normal. I have been googling for a place in Zurich and walking into all salons I pass to ask without any luck.
Thanks people
oh and btw...if they you offer you shampoo then think about buying it....hair need to be washed with sodium free shampoo and its practically impossible to find in the shops....took me a week and my hair was in a state by then!
Would you girls be darlings and post photos after the treatment please! Just from the back would be great! Actually, a before and after pic would be even better! I'm considering this treatment as ever since my pregnancy I have fizzy kinks in odd places around my head
I'm having mine done on Saturday so I'll try and get a 'before' picture before then - although I don't let my hair dry naturally very often cos its horrible!
Hey ladies. Sorry for the delay in reporting back. I had my Brazilian Keratin Treatment done last Saturday. Basically it involves the following:
- hair is washed 3 times with super/clarifying shampoo
- hair is rough dried to about 80% dry
- keratin solution is applied in sections (like having hair dyed)
- hair is blow dried again, to 100%
- hair is straightened with hot irons - at this point lots of scary fumes come out and I was told to close my eyes to avoid irritation - it was fine though
- thats it! Hometime! Hair feels a bit tacky (like having too much hairspray in) but is dead straight
- I couldn't wash my hair for 3 days (or get it wet in any way), which was HARD...by day 3 my hair was looking pretty skanky.
BUT - it was all worth it. On the morning of day 3 I washed my hair, and it took FOUR MINUTES to dry it with the hairdryer - no round brush or straighteners required (it used to take me 25-30 mins to dry and straighten).
Have posted photos (I think) - my hair dried totally naturally before, my hair immediately after the treatment with product still in, and 2 of my hair after washing (so you can fully see how shiny it is)
I forgot to mention it ended up costing me 250 euros (!!) plus I had to buy the special shampoo and conditioner which came to another 50 euros (!!!). Next time I'd get the shampoo and cond. online as its MUCH cheaper. If this lasts 3 months then its been totally worth it....we'll see!
I had mine done early Aug and it still has not gone back to being frizzy...not as straight as it was but still loads better. Going to be booking Toni & Guy in Zurich to do mine end of Nov as I am going away on holiday over Xmas and new year.
One thing i have had a problem with is finding shampoo....do you know where one can buy online? that would be a great help!
it's so funny how we always want what we don't have - I have straight hair and I think your natural curls are absolutely lovely! but I guess there might be some problems with them that I have no idea about..
I haven't tried any of these, but apparently sodium chloride (ie. salt) is the enemy of the brazilian keratin treatment, and these products are available online and SHOULD be ok:
Thanks ladies for the websites....when I had mine done i was offered a L'oreal shampoo and conditioner for £15....silly me thought that was to expensive....well I have spent hours in Boots, Supermarkets etc reading the label on each shampoo bottle....would have been easier to just pay the £15
I've now gone back to normal shampoo but I plan to use the sodium free shampoo as suggestged after I have my next treatment
oh yes....Toni and Guy quoted me "around 340chf" which is a bit cheaper than London I where i was told prices start at £250 for short hair. I had my first treatment at a introdution price of £58.
Just wanted to update this thread. It coming on for 9 weeks now since I had my treatment, and while I can still blow dry my hair without using a round brush and get a decent result, I do have to run over it briefly (at the roots) with the straighteners afterwards. Still doesn't take nearly as long in the mornings as it used to though.
I'll definitely be having this treatment again - probably next year just before my wedding and honeymoon (to combat the humidity frizz!).
Does anyone have a report back on the treatment at Toni and Guy in Zurich?
Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!!!! What lovely news
Oh, I went the the hairdresser a couple if weeks back and she said there is no reason for me to have this treatment on my hair and only people with real fizzy issues should do it She's kinda old-school that way
I'll probably only get it done next summer.. I don't have the time at the moment.
I was quoted 400CHF for this treatment at Toni and Guy in Zurich.. Not sure what anyone else's experience with Toni and Guy is but mine was very negative and will never go back there again.
I went to T&G in Zurich and it was great. They quoted me 340 CHF but forgot to include the cost of the blow dry so it was a bit more. I also bought the special shampoo and conditioner from them. I referred my colleague to them and she had it done and also loves it.
I'm so happy that I got the treatment done, I notice a huge difference and my hair is still doing well after having it done in Oct.
I'll def be going back to T&G again.
Why was your experience bad? Good to know to look out for these things.
Well i booked my appointment with T &G weeks in advance and explained very clearly on the phone that I have curly frizzy hair and I need someone who can handle this type of hair. I booked a cut and blow dry. They assured me that they are used to my type of hair. When I arrived the woman said that she cannot blow dry my hair because there isn't enough time.. So i asked her why and she said that I should have told her that I have 'afro' hair as this hair takes much more time... Not that i'm really sure what her definition of 'afro' hair is but my hair is curly and not what I deem to be 'afro'.. So I politely told her that I don't have afro hair and that I had in fact told them of my curly hair when i called.. We argued about what 'afro' hair is for a while and she adamantly refused to blow dry my hair... I had to beg her to dry it so that I didn't walk out in 5 degree weather with wet hair.. I was almost in tears and paid 175CHF for this shoddy service.. Hence the reason why me and my 'afro' shall never set foot in there again..
If any of you is in Neuchatel, http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bamboo...19105511463921 these nice ladies do it for 250 CHF. Now I don't need it since I have dead straight hair, but I thought anyone might be interested. I suppose blow drying is not included but their prices are really ok, I go there to cut, dye my hair etc and the ladies are really nice and as I said, really reasonable prices.
