Sometimes the Lost and Found offices record the name of the person who handed in the found goods (although many finders prefer to remain anonymous). In any case, you could ask the Lost and Found whether they have the details and if yes, send them a thank you and/or a gift. The German term for this is "Finderlohn", literally "finder's wage". Some offices will give you the details, others will agree to receive the gift from you and forward it to the kind finder.
