... yep, I'm the guy who recently posted about the broken cupboard, I don't know why I am having this luck ...
So, in my water tap in the bathroom, the hot water tap doesn't give hot water anymore. I have two other hot water taps in my house and they work perfectly. So I assume the tap is the problem. I can't see a way to unscrew it to repair – or even to shut down the water supply to the apartment before doing it. Does anyone have any idea what to do in such a situation? Here's the water tap pic:
Do you have hard water? Hot water seems to calcify a lot more than cold. The problem is not necessarily with the tap but could be anywhere in the system.
If you are a tenant ask the regie to fix it, and check all the other taps. If you are an owner then hire a plumber. Tax deductible.
If you still intend to DIY make sure your insurance will cover the damages.
If its a really old house (from the picture appears it may be so) then the water cutoff could simply be the one and only in the basement coming off the boiler or hot water tank. If so then you have to inform all tenants before closing it and repair or replace it as quick as possible. Also the cold water valve needs to be closed. Ask your fellow tenants, landlord etc.. Someone living there should know.
If you rent and attempt to repair yourself- and know what your are doing, then fine. If you don't know how to do it, and further leaks occur, apparent or within walls, etc- then you would be liable if you have botched a repair.
Same as owner, as your insurance would very likely claim you should have used a professional.
