The Fiesta is the best to drive, the i20 is probably the 'best' car overall, the Sandero is the best equipped, the Punto is the cheapest and the 500 is the most interesting and fun looking and the Logan is the biggest.
I think any would be a decent choice, I'd be interested to see the equivalent used car from AMAG.
A basic Golf, over four years old and 75k KM on the clock. I just set a price limit of 12.5k, sorted from newest first and this was the first one which wasn't an estate, bent, or silly miles.
I shook hands on a car at AMAG this morning. I got what I wanted (small car in good condition, under four years old, under 60,000km) for under my budget. The car also had new winter wheels / tires included, a fresh MFK and the next service is some time away.
Overall, a very easy transaction and I was happy with the service, even though I accept that I am paying a premium. I found AMAG customer service significantly better than the used car lots I visited. The salesman spoke clear English, was polite, not at all pressurising and talked me through everything a number of times.
The car I wanted to view had been reduced a week ago by CHF1,000 which I didn't realise until I arrived. After a test drive we agreed on a price, which was essentially today's sticker price minus CHF250 and they waived the 'preparation costs' quoted at CHF390. They are sorting the plates, registration etc. on my behalf.
Thanks to everyone for their input, it really assisted in my decision. I am pleased I got sorted and quite frankly the ease of the transaction and convenience was worth more to me than the couple of thousand francs saved.
Oh, and based on the concept of being at the back of the line in priority terms, I guess it depends on the salesman you get. There was a couple just back from a test drive of a CHF70k Audi who were waiting to see the same salesman. He asked them to wait in the waiting area until we had finished. I reviewed the contract and asked some more questions and didn't feel pressured or hurried. In fact, he offered me a second coffee.
So all in all it was quite a pleasant experience, despite the reservations and concerns I had.
Congratz on the deal. Can you tell which AMAG you went for? I also had a good experience in terms of client service and the seller speaking perfect English. Can you also tell if you had to push with proper arguments while negotiating the price and the preparation costs?
Not 100% on the branch name but it's just outside of Zurich. As I said though, I would think that it could be hit and miss dependent on which salesman you get.
No 'arguments' were required as to why I felt I wanted to negotiate on certain elements. The guy gave me a bottom line price, I suggested knocking in the region of 10% off, he countered at about 5% off and we shook on that.
I've just noticed that AMAG now have a feature where you can make an offer on a car (see screen shot run through Chrome translate). The software seems to allow bids around 20% below the asking price, otherwise it says 'bid too low'.
