You guys think you make fun of this and have a good laugh on the customs expenses?
So does he
Believe me, I am on your side and this is very interesting... it could be a really useful ploy for us too
Well, I generally don't want to marinate, but I do want to make some pastrami, so buying and corning the meat in Italy, and then bringing back the corned meat to smoke (or even eat as corned beef).
A partially cooked roast would work as well (just seared, for example).
I suppose if you don't have cooking facilities outside of CH you could just pack a small gas grill or blowtorch!

We are very close to the border, and our good friend's fence, is the French/Swiss border (on French side - so that would be easy peasy)
If you allow smoking in your car then you could do it on the way home
He does used to smoke his children not long ago
Actually, they are the ones doing the smoking in the car!
(when they borrow it)

Maybe she could just pass you the stuff over the fence?
hmmm not sure that would work as they are very much overlooked by the customs' offices and officers. But she could bring it all when bringing the kids for their English and German lessons - excellent and no need to pre-cook or marinate. Thanks shhhhhhhh keep it quiet.
