My German is not good enough to read all the T&C's. Is there any buyer protection like on Ebay/Paypal? How do you make payment? Paypal or direct to sellers bank etc?

I'm thinking of buying a used camera lens, either from Ricardo, Tutti or Anibis. I'm fairly nervous incase a) it doesn't get sent after paying or b) turns up damaged.
Direct to sellers bank, or sometimes Twint
I would say Ricardo is more reliable, Tutti is more open to scammers.
I don't believe either has protection, but I have bought 30+ things and sold 100+ things and not had any serious issues, received a refund when something arrived damaged.

In such cases where I believe there may be a risk then I go and collect the item, check it and pay in cash.

Have a trustworthy friend or acquaintance who lives closer to the pickup, and would know a good lens from bad? Ask if they'll pick up for you, and send them the money to pay for it ...

I wish I had knowledgable photography friends dotted around the country, but alas, no. I do know some people in the region, but none are into photography or have the correct camera brand to test the lens and see if it works properly.
Firstly, yes I can use a translator and often do. But sometimes when you are nervous about something it’s nice to have first hand info. I have had shit luck with purchases recently, I’m still waiting on a reputable company (I thought) to deal with a parcel lost by UPS worth 750€. I’m shit scared of ending up 1K out of pocket by making a bad decision, so give me a fricking break!
We have bought hundreds of things online on Tutti Ricardo or Anibis in the last decade. I find that most people are honest and have the best intentions, however, I would never pay for an item of high value in advance without inspecting it myself in person. I would strongly recommend considering making the drive yourself, and factor the cost of transport into your purchase decision.
For Chf 1k, you can't go and buy a Commune CFF rail ticket for Chf 50.-- and go and pick it up yourself ?
Zurich is nice in spring and with commune ticket yoiu can also go for nice boat trip on lake and ogle the shops in Bashgnhoffstrasse.

UPS lost a parcel of mine recently too - but I got a full refund.
It's funny but when I read your post, I was, at that moment, looking at Ricardo for lenses too.
Most people spending a lot of money on lenses tend to either look after them or are the "all the gear and no idea types" who decide that photography is their new hobby, spend a fortune on gear and then decide after a short while that photography is not for them.
The problem comes when a lense is dropped and may be cosmetically fine but either the mechanism or one of the internal elements is is damaged.
What about posting an ad here on EF and perhaps buying from one of our members? We have a fair number of photography buffs.
