buying Porsche Cayenne S with over 100K km

for those saying you only pay for the badge, i know which one i would rather be sat in. ... considering they are the same car apparently.

buy the cayenne, you will be getting a good deal and dont worry about it.

i might even buy one myself..

Agreed MN, it is like saying that there is no difference between an IKEA kitchen and a Poggenpohl one, if they are put in the same block of flats.

No, you can't.

Because the huge waste of resources that these vehicles contribute too is everyone's business.

double post

I'd rather be stuck in the VW watching the elephants than stuck in the Porsche in the fog.

Waste of resources.

Buy it - I can then borrow it - take it to the UK and tow the race car with it - we might even manage gallons per mile

But I can keep it in CH and tow my own race car

as its already been built (its 2nd hand) would you prefer he bought a brand spanking new smaller car, made especially for him??

(muppet)

But your piece of fibreglass is too light Have you broken it yet?

I reckon the 640 is the heaviest you have - my trailer will take 2400kg payload - so put that on the trailer - hitch it up behind the LM and see how bad it gets

Anyway, back on topic.

If you could afford to run the Cayenne when new then you can afford to run it now - just about.

It is a big, heavy, expensive SUV. Anything steering/suspension/brake related will take a battering. I am unimpressed with the quality of Porsche leather in all their modern cars I have seen it in - so see how well it ages. The 996s I have seen really don't look that great.

There is nothing else specific that I know of on the Cayenne. It is arguably the best SUV of its type - but that doesn't mean anyone will admit to liking it or even consider for 1 moment that it is attractive.

Ahem, my car has the optional carbon fibre bodywork, none of this GRP rubbish thank you very much. And bare carbon at that, paint is so heavy

An ECU issue affecting the paddle shift has meant I am now on the third new engine, one was brought to Spa overnight and fitted at 5am in the morning, but Dan Wheldon shook it down at Silverstone a few weeks ago and apparently it is now working like a dream. Lovely car, easy flat in 6th through Eau Rouge and Blanchimont, and a short dab on the brakes followed by full power on turn in all the way round Pouhon. Easy low 2min20's laps

Been there and done that in a Radical - sadly not in the drivers seat - the intake is dangerous loud as you go along Kemel. My last outting at Spa didn't end so well - as you can see!! The diff had a critical failure - which also took the rear arm with it - from then on in I (and my father in the pax seat) were along for the ride. Telemetry had us still doing 90mph when we hit the armco.

I can't remember what sort of times we were doing that time but the car was ready to race - and that was its shakedown test. I was storming past Caterhams - despite only have 218bhp and weighing 1200kg! The suspension that was on that car is now on the M3 and is bloody fantastic.

I am on my third gearbox this season - and down my end of the paddock we pick them off Ebay for £75 and fit them ourselves

Ouch! Car stood up well though. When I raced Clios they used to roll them in the first race but more often than not still be out for the second race

Chassis was proper bent - the shell couldn't even be used

Not sure what you do not like in the VW, but I was once in one of those and as much as I hate SUVs must I admit hands down that the 5.0 V10 TDI can only be described as "an experience" - I have never had so much fun driving up the ramps of car parks than with this monster and its 750nm torque... no turbo Porsche engine could possibly be as much fun at lower speeds.

Some engines (I'd say MB, VW and similar) start their life at 100k. Their parts start moving around as they should and their life span starts. With not so good care, now days engines go up to 250k or 300k, with reasonable proper maintenance 500k will be reached with no problems.

Thank you all for the helpful posts!!

I made my mind ... I will buy a new Vespa 125 GT instead and keep my Audi TT.

Cheers,

So...thread closed by the original OP.

Vespa was not what I was expecting.
