Buying UK property - How much information needed for Swiss tax return?

How much detail does the Swiss tax authorities want to know about a UK property purchase?

In brief, I’m leaving CH shortly for good. I’m buying a house in England with my brother and sister (both resident in UK). I’m taking roughly £200K out of an investment account and paying it into the pot for the cash purchase. For my final tax declaration here I want to be able to say that my investment account is £200K lower than last year but that I now own UK property worth £200K I.e. everything balances quite transparently. But I don’t really want the tax authorities to ask for details of the house and the finances as my name isn’t registered as part owner. (It’s in the names of my two siblings as it simplified the legal complexity of having a property part-owned by a non-resident. We will amend the Land Registry details later, when I’m officially UK-resident again.)

Will the Swiss tax office be happy with the declaration 'UK Property value £200K' or do they ask for property details, address, finance arrangements etc.? If I was planning to go on living in CH indefinitely I’d explain things in more detail to the tax office but as I’m leaving Switzerland literally a week or so after the purchase is completed, I would much prefer not to have this extra last minute complication of having to produce documentation and explain the legal arrangement we’ve agreed.

Can someone reassure me on this? Thanks.

I doubt they will want anything more. Try “UK property value 200K” and if they do, they will ask...

I do not know about the UK, but usually you are only a property owner if your name is in the land register. A foreign property would lower your Swiss wealth tax. You could however enter it as a loan to your siblings in your Swiss wealth declaration.

Thanks. This rings a bell from a conversation I had with a work colleague a while back. I've no desire to either show or hide myself as a property owner -- I'm only interested in avoiding last-minute complicated questions and paperwork demands when I'm about to leave the country in any case. If I can simply say 'this is a temporary loan to X' then that could neatly deal with the situation. The authorities needn't know or care about what the money is ultimately to be used for. They just need it to be accounted for. That makes sense.
