Saintes Maries de la Mer --- Camargue National Park - anyone been here to photograph the horses? I'm had this on my list for a few years to go visit, and I'm making a point to go there this year (2022) but I have a few questions.
1) Do the horses run on a "schedule"
2) Are there "tours put on by the park" to see the horses run
Everything I'm seeing on-line are photo tours that cost plenty of cash. I'm thinking of stopping by and don't need a full photo tour (unless someone has space for a really REALLY cheap price).
Yes, I've contacted multiple places in the area but nobody seems to be able to answer my questions --- OK 1 person did, he said he could do it for 1,000 euros for 2hrs of him riding his horse in the water. I don't think he was serious, and he didn't know of anyone else doing this.
There are a lot of tours, I don't know if they are specific to the park - that was not my impression. There is a bit of a schedule to it, feels more Zoo like than 'the wild' IMHO but it can be scenic or a nice experience (esp. by boat)
Lot of places to ride the horses as well and from time to time you can come across horses roaming where you can just try to pull over and photograph - it's a vast area so not sure one spot is better than another
If you go in summer be aware there is a mosquito season that is lethal, be prepared
Plus, it's a super touristy destination - expect pricing to reflect it, esp. during summer
