Can I buy a MacBook (English) in Switzerland?

If you import it, you need to pay tax on it, so factor that in.

If you order from the US store, they won't ship it anywhere except the US.

I'd get it sent to your friend in France or even just buy it from a store there...

Well goods sent from the US are also subject to customs duties in the EU. I suppose the issue is whether the French customs officials are wider awake than their Swiss colleagues when your packet comes through, though I suspect if it comes in a big box with Apple written all over it, even the sleepiest customs official is likely to wake up.

I got one from the Apple store in Zurich a few months ago, they had a Macbook pro with a UK keyboard in stock and then I just waited 3 days for them to get it mapped properly. It was easier to walk into the store as I couldn't order it online as that customisation is not available on the online store.

Check out the Interdiscount stores or online. They currently have this deal on for a 13.3" MacBook Pro for CHF999.00 down from CHF1349.00 - http://www.interdiscount.ch/idshop/p...SM)/detail.jsf/detail.jsf)

Note: As at the time of adding this link, it is currently not available for order online and you have to check at your chosen shop branch(es).

Do keep checking the link, however, as they may have stocks again online at some point...

Hi,

You could get it when you place an online order by selecting the GB keyboard layout

You can now, which is good! But when this thread started it wasn't possible (online).
