Can I keep student insurance after graduation?

Hi everyone,

I would like to ask if anyone has experience with health insurance after graduation.

My case is:

I just finished my master thesis defense at EPFL. This means I will no longer be enrolled as a student, however I will not receive my diploma until October.

Currently, I have applied for a L residence permit to find a job. And I live in Lausanne now.

In this case, the following questions confuse me:

1.Can I keep my student insurance until the end of this contract period even I am no longer registered in school?

2. During these six months of job seeking, will I be able to continue using relatively low-cost student insurance considering I am unemployed?

3. Who should I contact for helpful, trustworthy advice?

4. In the worst case, do you have insurance recommendations for unemployed graduates?

Thanks for all the useful information. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

I wish you a nice day.

Best,

Bella

You should ask those questions to :

https://www.vd.ch/toutes-les-autorit…s-de-lausanne/

or ask those questions to the relevant office of the university that you were at.

Read your policy and ask the insurance company.

They do ask for some proof but not always. They don't know until you report or fail to answer their query for proof of your studentship status. I am no expert and as other suggested it may be best to read the fine print but my impression is that as long they don't ask you to pay more that's it, you are still in contract.
