Many thanks
Hi, I have this beautiful IPad as a present and trying to set it up to watch BBC IPlayer on it. I understand that I need UK VPN address to be able to do this and it needs to be one specific for an iPad. I have found BestUKVPN, followed the instructions to set it up but it is not working. Does anyone know another Free UKVPN for iPad? I so want this to work and appreciate all the help.
Don ́t think Expat Shield works with the iPad.
Expatshield doesn't work, it is not an iPad application. Thanks anyway.
Hi there,
I am trying to get the BBC IPlayer to work on my IPad. I know expat shield doesn't work on the iPad. I appreciate if anyone out there can give me an advice on this.
Thanks!
You need to download the continental Europe version - as opposed to the UK version and pay a subscription - Sfr9 per month or Sfr80 or so per year.
I use My Private Network and it works on my iPad. £5/month and the support has been good so far. I have an issue when using it on my MacBook in that it locks me out of the net for everything else after about 20 minutes, but they are taking it seriously and offering all sorts of advice. It's not a problem for me as I use the iPad as a TV and the laptop for everything else. You can connect as many devices as you like simultaneously, providing they are in the same place.

I use Lamnia VPN on my iPad and Mac mini. Works great easy to setup and at Lamnia they have live support so if you are stuck they will talk you through it. Thats how I setup with them.
T
yes you can get bbc iplayer on the ipad! my swiss bf got it here! he paid 9CHF for a month.
Instead of paying CHF 9 a month for just BBC iPlayer, you could subscribe to overplay for the same price and get the ITV and Channel 4 players too, as well as a lot of other content that is denied outside of the UK.
Its one of the simplest vpn services to set up on the iPad. You just login to the site, download the iPad config file, email it to yourself and open it up on your iPad and it does all the hard work. Then whenever you want to view iPlayer, you go into settings and slide the VPN button to on and you're good to go.
Don't worry, OP.....you'll get used to it. People here are really lovely and helpful but attention to detail wouldn't be classed as one of the strong points of EF
@Castro - Do you need a UK iTunes account to get the iPlayer/ITV/Channel4 players for iPad?
My acct is US, but would love to get those channels now.
thnx

Sorry, I don't know as I still have a UK iTunes acct.
thanks for the link, is this legal?
yes, it sets you up with a uk based IP address - what you choose to do with your PC once you have this IP address is your business. but it will insert a number of adverts into your browser and you will get directed to various associated web pages when expatshield is running. easy to switch off though and it is not a major nuisance given it is a free service.
thanks very much, mandrake
I have purchased this lamnia VPN connection, set up the iPad. I have VPN working but when this is on Safari is unable to connect to Internet. How is this possible any idea?
I use Firefox with Adblockplus add-on ...... no more ads.
I am up and running now, I can watch the BBCIplayer on my IPad. Thank you all. If anyone knows any cool IPad apps let me know.
