We are looking for a tax accountant that knows both Canadian and Swiss Tax. We earn rental income in Canada, but we are non residents. I am looking for someone to help us file our taxes in Switzerland.
hello
It's good to have it done by an accountant, at least the first year, and you should also double check yourself the Swiss-Canadian tax treaty. I've checked it for my type of income, don't remember what it says about rental income but assuming it states that income is taxable in the country where the rental income is accrued , the general principle would be simply to file a non-resident tax declaration to Canada (there's a general form, plus whatever annex is relevant for your type of income and associated deductible expenses). Then for Switzerland, you need to declare that income as foreign income taxed abroad. That income shouldn't be taxed by Switzerland, but it will still count towards determining what your tax rate for your Swiss income should be.
