Car insurance based on market value (not depreciation table)

Hello all,

New to Switzerland (here since Jan 30, Basel area).

Bringing a 2005 Porsche 911 997 with me (a base model but in great condition and only 65kkms). Market value I reckon 45-50K but depreciation table probably says 15-20K.

I want to insure full casco but on the basis of the market value - I used to have that in Netherlands, I got an appraisal of the value and if something would happen, they would pay the full value of the car.

Do you have any guidance of which companies could do that?

Thanks in advance,

Nuno

Swiss casco is based on original price, not depreciated value.

Tom

You could insure it as a youngtimer.

For example with Allianz (first google result): https://www.allianz.ch/de/privatkund…sicherung.html
Caveat is that you can drive only 5000 km per year.

Try Simpego . Immatriculation 2005 is the youngest to qualify.

If you can, have your wife, gf, or other woman, take out the insurance with you as the main driver. Women are considered the lower risk.

Thanks Tom. I called Axa though, and they told me they would consider 10% depreciation a year, which seems consistent with what I saw in other countries!

Thanks k_and_e, appreciate the note. I had already read but didnt got all the way down and had just seen the 30 years at the top! I guess I was badly impressed by the fact that Zurich, which has an agreement with Porsche, only insures <10 years or above 30 years in full casco! I already pressed the button to get contacted and they called me back immediately. Hope its this good service afterwards.

Thats a great tip Urs! The car happens to be in my wife's name so I have the perfect excuse actually! As for the insurance, seems very competitive but I will wait for Allianz's quote on Monday!
