CDL to B permit

Hello all,

I am a non-EU/EFTA citizen living in Geneva on a L permit after graduating from a Swiss university.

I have received a job offer in an international organization which is likely to provide me a CDL.

I am wondering if it is possible for my employer to apply for a B permit instead of a CDL.

Further, do I have to wait until retirement (with the CDL) to apply for a C permit? Is it still permitted to apply and receive a C permit after 10 years of residency with a CDL under the new regulations?

Thank you in advance.

Have a bump as tis was posted last night.

No. If it’s an NGO you can only have CDL. And yes, you’d have to wait until retirement to possibly get a C permit.

If you have a B you would lose the benefits given to internationals.

Thank you all for your replies.
