I'm installing a ceiling lamp and have come across a combination of wires that I'm not too sure about. I presume black is hot/load and the yellow neutral but a little perplexed by the number of wires. I.e. why 2 black and yellow? Also not sure whether the paint on wires is intentional to code them white or just 'I don't care' painters.
What would be the right way to connect them to the fixture? (Photo attached)
The wiring colors have changed a few times in Switzerland, have a look through older threads here... Having two wires of the same color may also indicate you have a gang switch (i.e. you can control the light from two different switches)
Indeed there are two switches, although they are part of the same fitting and there is only one ceiling fixture. If it's a three-way switch then I really don't understand the point of it since they're right next to each other.
Maybe you just have two circuits to that fixture, so you could have two lamps or a lamp and a ceiling fan or whatever on the same fixture. Best to check with a multimeter or wire tester.
