The route has been closed since yesterday afternoon due to subsidence on the lines. All longhaul services are cancelled or only are operating to Morges or Allaman. A 20 minute bus ride is needed to bridge that gap.
The website and the app may show some trains available that in reality are not circulating. Wife is traveling to Nyon today and stuck in this mess.
The IC5 Zurich- GE Aeroport, stops in Yverdon. The website shows the IC5 arriving to Morges and this did not happen. Wife had to make Yverdon-Renens-Morges in regional trains.
So asks to train conductors what to do. The most recently available info is not on the CFF website, but CFF twitter https://twitter.com/railservice So far, no trains until tomorrow 11 Nov at 3 AM.

One story is it was workmen installing something down the side of the embankment. Luckily they were able to stop trains before crossing this bit. It could have been much, much worse.
I read on the Corriere del Ticino that the cause is some works being carried on below the tracks.
Apparently they had to close the line due to a hole, they reopened with speed limitations after filling the hole, but another one appeared later...

There's a new video in the RTS link I shared. It seems a construction company was digging a tunnel below the train tracks.......I hope they have a good professional liability insurance. I feel sorry for the project manager.

Geneva Lausanne yes, but navettes running from Geneva via Coppet Nyon Gland Rolle to Allaman and from Lausanne via ?? As far as Morges. And Lemain Express services and SNCF TGV services to France from Geneva operating to schedule.

Even CFF/SBB asks that only essential travel take place as they can't cope.
Lots of issues with the so-called bus replacement between Allaman and Morges yesterday evening, hopefully working better now, but based on first hand experience and other reports, it leaves a lot to be desired.
Not entirely true if Leman express is considered short haul. Trains between Geneva and Allaman are running, but with reduced frequency. I think they also got Geneva to Geneva Airport sorted this morning too.
The problem is between Morges and Allaman where NO TRAIN services are running, a replacement bus service is in place but a bus is not a train and delays are expected.

No change to situation today 11 November. Still forecasting reopening Friday morning.
They still offering train bus train twice an hour.
They put 25m3 of concrete down the hole yesterday. Will have to see if this was enough to stabilize the ground.
The shuttle buses are running non-stop from Morges to Allaman (Geneva direction) and return. The tain station in Morges is swamped with the long 2 part buses from Lausanne, Fribourg and Geneva that were brought in.
From what we understand, the boring at 90° to the tracks took place about 10m below the track surface after the ground was tested and approved for stability. As mentioned, it was to pass the water heating pipes from the lake up to the industrial park in Tolochanaz (Medtronic etc.) Somebody should be updating their CV !
This reminds me of the boring they did for the M2 subway in Lausanne about 15 years ago. Geologically Lausanne is on a lot of "gravel". Dispite all of the drill testing they did, they managed to have a huge part of the Place St. Laurant in downtown fall into the hole including the wine section of the Coop Centre store that was located on the basement level of the store next to the hole.
EDIT: I had not seen the Lausanne 20minute (FR) article from this morning before I wrote this but here is the link. They lost 1'500m3 into the hole at the time.
According to one of the articles I was reading, there was actually 2 holes bored, about 3 m apart. One went well, the second one was quite different, apparently the stabilty, consistency, structure etc. was not like the first one. Wonder if they knew at the time or only now in hindsight.
Watched the RTS videos and in one of them it is explained that if the soil is still unstable, they will build a temporary 18m long bridge over the sinkhole area.
The bridge ensure trains can pass safely but at reduced speed, so late and cancelled trains may last a long period.
Delayed and cancelled trains is not that unusual on the Geneva-Lausanne run.

In essence, CFF/SBB request only essential travel til Tuesday next week, line operating at reduced capacity and speed. 5 buses operating between Morges and Allaman now.
Full capacity re-establishment not expected until 2 weeks time.
30 tonnes of cement were used to stablise the structure. Initial results encouraging. They have a temporary bridge constructed and ready to use if need be in nearby Denges, so-called Plan B.
Interesting video on impact of blocked merchandise and postal trains. Seems most are making adjustments to trucks put nevertheless there are delays in getting goods/post to this area of CH.
