Specifically when the seller is outside Europe. were their any import taxes due? As this is a 2nd hand watch I'm not sure if there are import duties?
Hi Everybody, does anyone have experience using Chrono24 to buy a watch?
I've used Chrono twice. One bought from a Swiss seller, no issues whatsoever.
The next purchase was from a US seller - shipped by Fedex if I remember correctly and just got the VAT plus the typical 20something fee for clearing customs. No issues, very smooth process.
Whatever of value you bring in from outside the country is subject to import tax, regardless of new or used. If you want to avoid it you should look for something in the country.
thanks! this is a US reseller so I will be ready for this extra cost. I am bit hesitant buying a high ticket item online even if the reseller has good reviews... but it would be a nice Christmas gift (any excuse to get a "new" watch )
I bought quite a few watches over the years from US dealers (mostly through ebay). I never had any problem but was miffed a few times that the Zoll guys had obviously opened the packet 'to check'. OK, that's their job but I doubted they could have revalued the watch (they never did) and there's the nightmare scenario that it arrives at home 'broken'... did it ship broken.. did it break in transit.. did some clumsy sod at the Zoll drop it?
