A test is obligatory in ZH, but the communes are free to use their own test or the cantons test. The test can be verbal or written. You can find the finer details in the cantons act and ordinance : https://www.zh.ch/de/migration-integ...uergerung.html
At the time to request the C permit we needed to collect some docs from all our past gemeinde. Does the ordinary naturalization application requires also collect multiple docs (maybe from past gemeinde or from our country of origin)?
Before Jul 2023 it was a big pile of docs to collect. But I've heard that now in ZH many of them can be requested online during the application process. No need to get them on paper beforehand and scan, as we did last year.
My answers are for BS; I don't know whether your canton is BS or BL, so it might not apply to you.
Depending on whether you're already registered in the civil registry, you might need to provide birth/marriage (if applicable) certificates.
Also, in BS you don't need a written knowledge test, it's an interview with your locality where they assess your integration and knowledge of Switzerland/BS/your locality.
You will need a tax certificate for the last 5 years and confirmation of having lived in a municipality, if outside of BS at any point within the last 10 years.
Does anyone know how long it takes in the city of Winterthur to obtain the Winterthur municipal citizenship (Winterthurer Stadtbürgerrecht ) after the personal interview with the municipality?
