Confused: Family Reunion (EU + Non EU)

Hi everyone,

Me and my wife recently moved to Switzerland, I got a permanent job contract.

Having EU citizenship I got my my B permit in a week.

Now my wife(marriage is registered in EU) is a citizen of non-European country, but with a visa free policy for 90 days. We relocated together.

Should she get a type D visa in a consulate abroad or we can go directly to Migration office for her permit? Kreisburo made an appointment for her there.

Im really confused with all the available info:

It is stated that type D visa is required only if visa is required to enter Switzerland.

Technically, yes she should have a Type D visa which allows her to enter Switzerland for more than 90 days. Check with the cantonal migration office as sometimes some cantonal offices will issue a Type D visa.

Just want to thank you, Medea, for showing up for work in the forum on Christmas day. You are always so helpful. Brava!
