Covid tested positive. do I need to test again after quarantine?

Does anyone know the best source of info for someone who has been tested positive for Covid in the Zurich area?

But it is not clear what to do after 10 days of quarantine and who I can contact if I have symptoms? Family doctor is not reliable since you need to wait and sometimes (weekends) they are not available.

If you don’t have serious symptoms, if you are suffering cold like symptoms, stay at home until they are gone. If your symptoms are gone after 10 days, go on with life. If you are having breathing difficulties call an ambulance.

I believe isolation has been shortened to 5 days. If I get a PCR test that tests positive but I still want to buy groceries in a shop, am I doing something illegal?

No idea about illegal but it is definitely not recommended as you need to isolate. Order online?

No. But possibly something unsociable.

On the other hand, it could be argued that the best vaccine is actually catching Covid - IF one is fit and well and triple jabbed - and you are doing other shoppers a favour...

Recent experience was positive test result was followed by immediate email from the Canton Dr stating isolation and all the rules and requirements thereof. Going out shopping was not compatible with isolation according to the Canton booklet in the link. Consequences not sure, but the said rulebook also stated that Canton authorities had the right to check up and make sure isolation was being strictly followed. Not our case but on day 5 they did call, ask about symptoms, and in the case of none, allowed end of isolation. [Isolation can be longer than 5 days if symptomatic]

You are not allowed to get tested especially because for up to many days after recovery you will still get a positive result

PCR tests can be positive weeks after recovery, even though you are no longer infectious.

Can someone else in your household shop? My understanding is that although you have to isolate, if others in the household test negative they can go out.

And you don't want to go down this route because the authorities may ask you go back into quarantine for 5 days.

We have reached a strange grey area as Covid become endemic.

As I previously reported, I came back from a week’s skiing in early February with what i thought was a mild cold. Because we had lateral flow tests in the house, I took a test. It was instantly positive - no waiting 15 minutes.

Frankly, without the test if I still worked I would not have taken any time off. My partner tested negative. We are both triple jabbed.

I tested positive for the next 2 weeks and stayed in, even though the “cold” was long gone.

The OP’s question is one many will be facing in the coming months - and maybe much longer...

Just got officially tested. There’s a huge increase in testing as cases seem to be on the rise. It’s really only logical.

Better today. It’s like a flu with fever. Just got to get through it. Aspirin works wonders. I can finally use my bottle of 150 tablets of aspirin from the States.
