According to Article 26b of the Swiss Therapeutic Products Act (TPA/Heilmittelgesetz), a prescription is the legal property of the person for whom it was issued. [1]
- Paper Prescriptions: You own the paper. If a pharmacy needs to keep it to track refills, they are supposed to log the dispensed medicine, stamp it, and give it back to you. If they must retain it for health insurance billing, you have a right to demand a physical copy or photo of it. [1, 2, 3]

" The prescription shall become the property of the person for whom it was issued. The person should remain free to decide whether to receive the prescribed product or to obtain a second opinion and to determine with which authorised provider they want to redeem the prescription. In the case of electronic prescriptions, the choice of provider should not be restricted by technical obstacles.91"
