As you may know, fully vaccinated travelers from Switzerland do not need to take a pre-departure test, but they do need to book a test in UK in advance and take it on Day 2 "if they are still in the country".
My situation is that,
- I am arriving on Day 0 (Geneva - London)
- I am there on Day 1 (London)
- I am leaving on Day 2 (London - Geneva)
I have a test booked for Day 2.
Do you know if I absolutely need to go and take the test on Day 2 before flying out? Even if technically results will be ready when I am in Switzerland already? How rigorous is that? I know there's a fine of 2k GBP?
I think I'll comply but honestly I'd prefer to do some sightseeing before leaving
It‘s „on or before Day 2“ not „exactly Day 2“. You can get it delivered to where you are staying and post it back the day you arrive. Or you can get one on arrival at the airport, e.g.
They should post it to the address on your Passenger Locator Form, it'll arrive the day you travel (or day 1). Just register it and take it early day 2 and pop it in the post. They're pretty much useless, but it's best you take it in case they have some way of putting a black mark against your name for next time you fly
Good luck having it arrive on day 1. We arrived on a Friday evening late. Our tests arrived at the hotel on Thursday, which would have been day 6. We posted them back the same day and got our results by e-mail on Monday; day 10.
