Deregistering remotely by post / email

Hello fabulous EFers

Does anyone know whether it is possible to deregister either at the UK swiss embassy or by email / fax / post?

I have left Switzerland and handed in my apartment but I did not deregister at the geminde - Do I really need to come back to the immigration office to hand in my permit?

If I do no need to be physically present can it be done in a day so that I fly in the morning and return the same day or do I need to stay for a few days in a hotel?

Nothing to do with the embassy. Have you looked on your old gemeinde’s website to see if it’s possible to do it online?

At a minimum you will likely find their e-mail address.

Based on your previous posts I assume you were based in Zurich. It looks like it cannot be done on-line:

There's a phone numer, try giving them a call and ask about your particular situation.

Is there a different process for Schwyz - Also would it be Schwyz or the smaller commune who would govern the deregistration process? For my example its probably Wollerau or Bach SZ

Same process i.e. cannot be done online if moving abroad.

Following this thread. I left Switzerland and my Permit expired. How would I deregister from abroad - for Schwyz. I can't find information other than going in person and I don't have plans to go back this summer.

Check out the website from the city you lived in and maybe you can do that online.
