Our town accepts medicines (as well as other chemical products) on hazardous waste collection days. It's called "Sonderabfallsammlung" here. And of course, medicines also can be returned to the pharmacies.
In Zurich, there are some recycling days when you can bring some hazardous stuff to dispose. I guess that also include Medicines.
Google for the term "sonderabfall":
Su store will take back the drugs but wants you to dispose of the packaging. They will take tablets etc still in the plastic/alum blister packs.
